In the 1st century AD, Hero of Alexandria described the Aeolipile, a bladeless radial steam turbine which spins when the central water container is heated. Torque is produced by steam jets exiting the turbine, much like a tip jet or rocket engine. From him, this steam device was called Hero Engine since then.
During the Renaissance, Leonardo Da Vinci upgraded that device and created the Archituono “the ThunderBow”.
They were Steampunk before it was mainstream.
I started blogging to share my passion, work and studies in weird history, uchrony and fringe science, my love for gamebooks, speculative fiction, comics, videogames and role-playing games.
